KOHIMA, JUNE 22 (MExN): The Olympic Day Run 2024 organized by the Nagaland Olympic Association at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima on Saturday witnessed participation from 229 enthusiastic young athletes aged 6 to 12 years.

Under the inspiring theme, “Let’s Move & Celebrate,” the Olympic Day Run aimed to promote the Olympic values of friendship, excellence and respect, while encouraging physical activity and healthy living.

The event served as a testament to our unwavering commitment to promote sports and fitness within our community. It was heart-warming to witness the incredible enthusiasm and dedication of all the participants, who displayed remarkable sportsmanship and determination.

Young athletes showcased their talents in different categories based on age groups in the 50 meters, 80 meters and 100 meters races.

The incredible turnout reflects the growing enthusiasm and passion for sports in Nagaland, the NOA stated, while adding that the event brought together athletes, families and sports enthusiasts fostering a sense of camaraderie and celebration.
“This year, the participants were not only smarter but also more active, demonstrating that our young athletes are beginning to adapt to the rigors and joys of sports. It is heartening to see their dedication and enthusiasm, which bode well for the future of sports in Nagaland.” said Abu Metha, Secretary General of NOA.
The NOA, meanwhile, expressed sincere appreciation to the individuals and organizations that supported and contributed to the success of the Olympic Day Run. Their collective efforts have played a vital role in promoting sports and fostering a vibrant sporting culture in Nagaland, it added.
