On EAC BT Sangtam quota—NPSC 2010

The ENSF has done a commendable job in bringing about the startling revelation of Mr.Relise Sangtam’s lineage (EAC BT Sangtam quotas NPSC 2010) which has exposed the grave illegitimate practices of availing the opportunities and quotas (ST and BT quotas) meant for the Nagas by blood alone. The rampant unethical, unhealthy, uncalled for and illegitimate practices of becoming a Naga with vested interest are prevalent, prominent and predominant among the non-nagas into the Naga society.

We the Nagas follows the patriarchal system wherein the individual(s) traces its Descent through the father’s or male line (patrilineal descent). The Descent and the Lineage is a Social Recognition of the Biological relationship. Thus, how can and why a non-naga (by blood) when he marries a naga woman becomes or made a naga?.This rampant practices has becomes a trend which has been encouraging many non-nagas with hidden vested interests to penetrate deep into our Naga society by marrying a naga women.

The disclosure of Mr.Relise Sangtam’s hidden lineage has pointed out to many facts. Mr.Relise Sangtam intentionally provided false information in his documents pertaining to his descent, community and the lineage thus, committing a legal crime. On the part of the Government, how and why was this fact being over looked in the appointment to the highest nature of civil services post in the state? Furthermore, from where, how and by whose authority was he able to attain and produce the NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE (NOC)? Mr.Relise Sangtam being a highly qualified intellectual who has undoubtedly proven his calibre of becoming an EAC, then why he did not acknowledge and adhere to the Government vide order no.AR-8/19179 dated 01/01/2009,kohima? This selfish and illegitimate act on his behalf has brought disgrace and tarnished the image of the sangtam community in the greater Naga society which is highly questionable.

This incident has highlighted the highly volatile nature with unwarranted consequences of the cultural diffusion in the Naga society. This issue should serve as an eye opener to the Nagas of the other’s motives and hidden vested interests of becoming a Naga. It is our sincere appeal to all the Student bodies, Hohos and the Public Organizations, the NGOs and the Governmental Organs to strictly check and scrutinize the individual’s details in determining the Nagas by blood and birth in every sphere.

Alise Sangtam,
Ex Gen. Secy PGSU (NUCK) 09-10
