On the article on the telecom Department

Kedi Haralu

Due to the article that appeared in the Morung Express, finally the department is a buzz alarm activity, which is somewhat uncommon, for to get the attention of the higher ups in the department of telecom something like this had to be done. Even though after the article had appeared, I had numerous phone calls from the department, which I had earlier anticipated, but since the truth cannot be hidden, once the cupboard is opened and the skeleton found, should be removed and thoroughly cleaned. I had tried to call off the article since I was invited to meet the GM Nagaland SSA personally, plus was requested by the EE of the Department who is himself a Naga. We had tried to clarify and sort out things out, and the GM had apologized and as Christian, I need to forgive and forget. Although I cannot or will not ever go back on what I have said, since the truth is truth, but this should be taken as an example on how far we can go, if justice is meted out to us.

Instead of putting the blame on each other now, the department needs to do what is right and regain the sympathy and trust and support of the local public. It is unfortunate that although everything was compromised, the article still appeared, but everything happens for the best, so the GM Nagaland SSA should learn from his mistake and be more accommodating and also fair in his future dealings, and that during every opportunity the local contractors must be given the first preference and never entertain those who manipulate and monopolise the developmental work in the department. As it took a Brass Band with the numerous drummers to wake in the department, so making the most of this opportunity the department needs to clean up their act once and for all, otherwise such verbal assaults will continue, which would be healthy, both to the department as well as me and my partners.

The media being the voice of the down-trodden is the best platform to highlight certain misdeeds, but ultimately it is up to the department and its officers to use this opportunity to pull up their sleeves and clean up to the dirt that in filtered the department, in the past few years. I also want to say that I sincerely believe that the local officers should be brought back to their earlier position, so that while taking decisions, the local officers point of view can be sought, in the process bringing the department as well as the public more closer, and if this happens, there will be more and more cooperation and support from the local people. Let this be a lesson to all who think that having connections with the high ranking officials, can get away with everything. We live in a democratic society, thus democratic we need to be in our dealing regardless of how big or small.
