One day orientation on self defence under Medziphema held

MEDZIPHEMA, OCTOBER 7 (MExN): Samagra Shiksha, Educational Block Resource Centre, Medziphema, in collaboration with Nari Shakti Self Defence Club, GHS Naga United Village conducted a one day orientation on self-defence on October 7 in GHSS Medziphema auditorium.

Out of the 33 GMS, GHS, and GHSS in the EBRC Medziphema block, 27 schools attended the program.

Delivering an introductory note, Pekinto Y. Jimo, who is the founder and instructor of the club, expressed his deep passion for helping government school girls to gain confidence and strength through self-defence. 

He said, through the Nari Shakti Self-Defence programme, the club is looking forward to introducing the Government schools girl students to some simple yet effective techniques that can be used by anyone, regardless of age or size and also to inspire a mindset, one of alertness, confidence and respect for self and others.

Speaking on the importance of self-defence, Kru Hemavi Aye, Head Coach, Strike Fit Academy, Nagaland, said self-defense is not all about punching and kicking or fighting back but the real essence of self-defense begins with self-discipline, awareness, courage, and to be bold to speak up.

Emphasising on girl power, Hemavi who is Nagaland State Muaythai Coach & Former National Coach, Indian Muaythai Team said many women become victims not because they are weak, but because they stay silent. Using one’s voice — shouting for help, reporting, and speaking up — can save lives and stop attackers in their tracks, she emphasized. 

Team Strike-Fit Academy, Nagaland presented practical demonstration session.  Megophilie Noel, ToT chaired the programme while Menguseu Sote, Coordinator, EBRC Medziphema delivered welcome address. The programme concluded with vote to thanks proposed Alam Jamir, ToT.
