Dimapur, May 30 (MExN): The Nagaland Chief Secretary Lalthara has in a notification informed that the Government of Nagaland has appointed L. Sosang Jamir Retired Deputy Commissioner (Judicial) as one man Judicial Inquiry to inquire into the incident of vandalism and assault on the person of Rovilatuo Mor Deputy Commissioner Wokha allegedly by an unruly mob of Longsa village of Wokha district took place on 21-4-2012.
The Chief Secretary in a notification stated that the said incident was a matter of public importance, having an important bearing on the maintenance of law and order in the State and the matter required a detailed inquiry to find out the causes and circumstances leading to the aforesaid incident, and also to fix responsibilities for the incident.
The Judicial Inquiry has been set up with a five point terms of reference and conditions. This includes the causes and circumstances leading to the incident; the person or group of persons responsible for the incident; whether there were any lapses or dereliction of duty on the part of any officials or public authorities responsible for the maintenance of law and order; whether the incident could have been avoided, and lastly, how such incidents may be avoided in future.
The Judicial Inquiry shall submit its report to the State Government within 45 (forty five) days from the date of publication of this Notification in the Official Gazette. The Judicial Inquiry may if it deems fit, make an interim report to the State Government before the expiry of the said period. The State Government shall provide necessary logistics in terms of transport, secretarial assistance, accommodation and security as and when required.
