DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 28 (MExN): In the backdrop of tension between Naga groups, the law and order situation in Dimapur further tensed up with the killing of a GPRN/NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) cadre by unidentified gunmen on Wednesday evening. The deceased, identified by police as Vesavo of Thehepu village, Phek district, and reported to be a ‘corporal’, was part of the ‘town command.’ One civilian was also injured in the shooting, which occurred at Accoland Winter Mela, Burma Camp at around 7:20pm. According to police, the unidentified civilian was wounded in the arm and was escorted away for medical aid. According to the police, the body of the deceased cadre was taken away by relatives. Two empty shells of 9mm caliber and a third shell reported to have misfired was recovered by police from the site of the shooting. Till the time of filing this report, there were no further updates.
