It seems the transport department has started implementing the High Security Vehicle Number Plate in our state. In this regard, I would like to ask the concerned authority to satisfy myself and many of the ignorant vehicle owners before getting registered:
1. How secure my vehicle would be if I get the so called High Tech Security Number Plate? What does the word Security mean? Is it security of my vehicle only or does it means social and National Security?
As vehicle owner whose vehicle is worth just few thousand of rupees, I think its not worth for me registering my vehicle with the High Security vehicle Number Plate. But I would be the first person to register my vehicle with the technology if it could secure the society or the nation from all kinds of threats. I may also register my vehicle if the concerned authority demanding the registration and registration fee will get me back my vehicle in case of theft. Therefore, I demand guarantee from the concerned authority to fully compensate me with the value of my vehicle or bring me back my vehicle if it is lost after registration. As long as the security is to do with only the vehicle, I feel it should be optional to register or not. So also, if the Insurance Companies demand such registration to insure my vehicle I may have to ask for it.
2. Why disparity in the cost of registration? It is not a confirmed information, but reliable sources say that the same technology/gadget has different prices in those few states which are implementing it. Here, I want to know the value of my money towards the High Security Vehicle Number Plate, if not I would not pay for anything which does not contribute anything positively to me and the public at large.
3. Why fix 15th June 2012 as last date for registration? It seems from far flung areas the applicants, after paying the fee and submitting the forms, have to wait for minimum15 days to get their Number. Now it is already announced that fine of Rs.500 will be imposed whenever any vehicle is found not registered. I want to know who will pay this fine if the applicants don’t get their vehicle Number before the last date. By 9.00 am hundreds of vehicles are gathering in front registration counters. Many vehicle owners have to wait till their chance come and thereby wasting their times. To the utter surprise of all, the responsible officers to run registration counters don’t always come to duty on time. I find this as harassment to the public, especially the vehicle owners.
