DIMAPUR, APRIL 30 (MExN): Stating that the written result of the Graduate and Under Graduate Teachers (GT/UGT) examination was declared after much resentment and pressure by the candidates and the public, the Opposition Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has alleged that the oral interview that has been fixed to start from 3rd May onward is already “scam tainted”.
“The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) is shocked to learn that the NPF legislators have been given the liberty to recommend their own candidates on the condition that the teacher candidates so selected will support their respective constituency legislators in the coming State general election slated for Feb/Mar. 2013”, stated a press note from the NPCC.
The Opposition Congress stated as “obvious that uncertainty to win in the next election and desperation have driven the NPF legislators to stoop so low as to take advantage of the job seekers”. “If the rumour doing the round proved to be true, it appears that merit will be sacrificed again on the altar of the NPF”, the press note stated.
However, the people of Nagaland will not tolerate such politically motivated action of the NPF legislators, the press note stated. The NPCC warned that it will use all “political wits and wisdom to oppose the unhealthy power manoeuvre”. The NPCC also appealed to all the teacher candidates not to succumb to the pressure tactics of the elected members but rise to the occasion and fight for their own democratic rights. “The education department is already neck-deep in scams and scandals. The NPF should keep education above politics and come out clean on the allegation. Else, posterity will not forgive the NPF-led DAN government for playing with the children’s careers”, the NPCC stated.
