Dimapur, September 25 (MExN): The Kohima Unit of the Watsu Mungdang stated that it is shocked and extremely disturbed to hear about the treatment meted out to Yangmaitola Chang, a ten year old child by Asangla of Forest Colony, Kohima. A condemnation note issued by Wt. Tiamenla, president, Wt. Akumsenla, assistant secretary stated, “We condemn such act to a minor. This incident has occurred at a time when our Naga Society is becoming more aware of our rights. In fact, we are also aware that this incident is a violation of the child Labour (Protection & Regulation) Act, 1986.” The unit also said that such incidents are also capable of creating disunity among people and further stated that it condemn any kind of such violence.
A separate press note issued by Yimchungru Union Kohima (YUK) vehemently condemned the child abusing act meted out to the child. “Such barbaric and inhuman act causing physical and mental torture to such minor is much against the Christian Ethics and the law of the land” stated the note issued by M. Yinkiu, president, Kiutsuthong, press& information secy. The union would like to state that parents sent with much hope of learning all noble things from such elderly woman and not to experience this kind of ill treatment. And hence all right thinking citizens needs to condemn such act. “Hence, we would like to appeal the Eastern Nagaland Peoples Union Kohima to take stringent action against the accused so as to avoid such incidence even in the near future,” the note said.
