‘Our hard earned freedom should not be taken for granted’

Webinar on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav held in Kohima

Kohima, August 24 (MExN): As part of a series of events commemorating the 75 years of India’s Independence, the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Kohima and Field Outreach Bureau, Kohima under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India organized a webinar on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on August 24.

Speaking on the occasion as the resource person, Hinaco Assumi, Vice Principal & Professor of Political Science, KROS College Kohima reminded that India’s hard earned freedom should not be taken for granted but pursued with zeal and responsibility as so many lives have been sacrificed in getting it.

Recalling the supreme sacrifices made by the forefathers, he said so many unsung heroes have died in the freedom struggle and the befitting tribute to them would be to follow the path they have shown and carry the country forward. Hinaco further said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative of Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self Reliant India) is a step in this direction, a PIB press release informed on Tuesday.

Stating that India’s unity in diversity is unique, he said people will find the true beauty of individuality if we pursue the country’s character of unity in diversity in the best positive way.

Earlier, giving the welcome address, P Sophie, In-charge, Field Outreach Bureau, Kohima said the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting is organizing a series of events during the month as part of the celebration of the 75 years of India’s Independence.

In his vote of thanks, K Sonikumar Singh, Asst Director, PIB Kohima thanked all the participants including students, faculties, officers and staff of PIB and FOB offices from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland. Around 40 persons attended the webinar.
