Over 200 athletes participate in Nagaland Cross Country Championship

The Nagaland Cross Country Championship took place at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima on November 19. The event was joined by over 200 athletes from the various districts of Nagaland.

The event was flagged off by Abu Metha, vice president, Athletics Federation of India (AFI) in the presence of Stanley Jones, chairman, AFI Technical Committee and President of Telangana Athletic Association and Sambhudas Bandopadhaya, Technical Official, AFI.

The day kicked off with the senior men’s 10 km event. Nahtei N Wangnao came in first with a time of 35:57, followed by Cuvoto Medeo and Wede T Mero in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

The senior women’s 10 km saw Tsuchoi T came in first with a time of 43:55 followed by Songmo P and Peiheteile Esalung as 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

•    U18 boys (6km) - 1st: Muchiu - 23:20; 2nd: Shosu Pohena; 3rd: Ngonuyi Yhobu 
•    U18 girls (4km) - 1st: Vesatsülu Khesoh - 18:33; 2nd: Chimmushe; 3rd: Nirmala Rai 
•    U 16 boys (2km) - 1st: Kiutsu - 7:41; 2nd: Yongwan Kahkok; 3rd: Thejanguzo Pfukha 
•    U16 girls (2km) - 1st: Neikethonuo Janet - 9:23; 2nd: Imtisangla Kangshou; 3rd: Khrotsho-u Tsuhah
