Dimapur, March 22 (MExN): Wishing the Nagas on the 50th anniversary of the Naga Republic Day, the Naga National Council while urging the people to continue and sustain “the good fight for the day is coming when all of us will be richly decorated” has appealed to stop the fratricide between the factions.
In his Presidential speech, Gen. (Retd) I Panger Walling, NNC said the he was “very sad” to see even today the fratricidal killing among the two factions of the NSCN and the FGN.
“This is not the way to fight for the Naga freedom while maintaining cease-fire with the Govt. of India and continued killings amongst the Nagas. In the name of God Almighty and for the sake of the Naga freedom, this must be stopped by any means” President Walling called.
He stated that for the last several decades India had invaded, killed, jailed and tortured the Nagas as well as tried to force the people to join the Union of India, did not ‘surrendered even an inch of our land or the right of the Nagas.’
“Today on this fiftieth anniversary day I would like all of you to join paying tribute to all those who have sacrificed everything for the liberation of our blessed Nagaland. My dear national workers, we have come this far and so let us continue to sustain the good fight for a day is coming when all of us will be richly decorated” Walling stated.
He also took note that that ‘some people are going to celebrate a golden jubilee of Federal Government who committed a treacherous accord with India in 1975.’
He said that this is not the time for celebration of golden jubilee without freedom as the struggle continues; rather those people who are confined in the transit camp after signing the accord should repent and renounce the Accord once and for all for the sake of the Nagas. “Because as long as the Federal officials and the signatory remain in the transit camp, the Shillong accord of 1975 is not a dead paper. And it is not a matter of joke and it is more than enough to waste 30 precious years in a transit camp as the main stumbling block to the path of Naga freedom and unity” Gen Walling said while appealing to the people for the “last and final time during my tenure” to discard the camp for the sake of the Naga people and freedom.
He reminded the different factions that there is no meaning in having many years of cease-fires and talks with India without any political solution. “We must know that government of India will never solve the political problem as we have clearly seen in the past experiences. There will be no solution at the Govt. of India level. Therefore, it is always best to unite first on proper political platform and stand to raise the issue at the international level who are ready to help solve the longest political problem once for all” Gen Walling said.
He condemned the Military Junta of Myanmar for aggression and military atrocities upon the free Eastern people. “It is a shame and crime to carry out military operation against a free and innocent people who never joined Myanmar till date. And the Nagas will never join Myanmar; rather the Nagas will always defend and protect their land as a free people.
