Dimapur, June 29 (MExN): Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Development, Pangnyu Phom has said that the public should give more credit to the department for its performance instead of always trying to find fault. He said that “outside interference” has become very common and officers are spending most of their time attending to RTI applications and other financial matters regarding MGNREGA.
Inaugurating the new BDO office in Medziphema today, Pangnyu said that Nagaland is considered as one of the best performing states in the country but its achievement is being overshadowed by such negativities. He said that the MGNREGA fund is meant for the villages whereas, elements not related to the department are interfering in its functioning.
Pangnyu also pointed out that, for better interface with the grass root, the government has gone ahead and created 22 more RD blocks this year taking the total to 52 blocks. With regard to Medziphema block, he said that it has been bifurcated into two blocks for the convenience of the villages. He added that it is a very important block (and the largest) and it should serve as a role model.
