Wokha, May 5 (MExN): An adult literacy campaign aimed at promoting women’s education and empowerment was formally launched at Pangti Village under RD Sanis Block on Monday, with 87 women enrolling in the initiative.
The programme, held at the village community hall, brought together officials, community leaders, and local stakeholders in support of the campaign.
Addressing the gathering, Er. Moasanen Imsong, EAC Sungro, congratulated the women participants for taking the step toward education, emphasising that learning has no age limit.
He encouraged them to pursue their goals with patience and determination, adding that literacy can help individuals find purpose and direction in life.
Imsong also expressed confidence that the initiative would empower women and bring positive change to the village.
Senior SDEO Nchumbemo Jami, Speaking on behalf of the Department of School Education, Senior SDEO Nchumbemo Jami expressed gratitude to the participants for their willingness to learn and urged them to work closely with their educators.
He also appealed to civil society organisations in the village to extend support to ensure the success of the campaign.
Representatives from the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Wokha, and village leaders also addressed the gathering, pledging support for the initiative.
The State DIPR informed that the event was organised by Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission in collaboration with the Wokha district administration, Department of Social Welfare, DHEW under Mission Shakti, and the Department of School Education.
