KOHIMA, AUGUST 23 (MExN): The National Highway-2 (Kohima–Mao) near Phesama, between Chainage KM 192.050 and KM 192.150, has been partially restored, and one-way traffic for light motor vehicles (LMVs) will be allowed with immediate effect under strict regulations, the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, said on Saturday.
According to a traffic advisory issued by the DC, traffic will be suspended daily between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM to allow ongoing restoration and balancing work to continue safely. During this period, an alternative route from Phesama to Kisama and Kigwema via Rhododendron Resort will remain open for vehicular movement.
The DC also warned that in the event of heavy rainfall, all vehicle movement in the area will be suspended due to the risk of landslides.
Meanwhile, the movement of heavy vehicles, including water tankers, paramilitary vehicles, and all types of heavy commercial passenger vehicles, will continue to remain suspended until further notice.
