Pastors urge Ukhrul Church to be role models

Ukhrul |September 10 : Baptist pastors from the Baptist Church of Long Beach, United States of America are in Ukhrul district in Manipur state as part of a programme, ‘Impact India and 10/40 Window First Pastors and Leadership Training’ being held since September 9. The event, organized by the Indo-Myanmar Baptist Mission (IMBM) and Christ-centered Baptist Ministry (CCBM), is being held in Phungreitang, Ukhrul.
Entering its second day in the consecutive 3-day training, resource person Pastor John Wilkerson spoke on the Word of God as given in the book of 1Timothy. Pastors including Christian leaders from across Ukhrul district are participating in the event.
Pastor John taught the audience on being a ‘role model.’ The central theme of the session focused on how pastors must have ears to listen to the voice of the people and ‘open our hearts, our, Bible, our houses and wallets, give rooms and helping hand to the needy’ for God's Kingdom. Active and true followers of Christ are never ‘idle’ he said, ‘but to visit people, house to house, talking or sitting with people to share the words of God and listen to their problems.’
Pastor Wilkerson also shared the Gospel messages from the book of Philippians 1:21 and took the example of Apostle Paul who said "he desires to see Jesus" and want to be with Him. The pastor urged for "unity of working together" in the name of Christ (Phil.1:12-13) as God is always faithful and knows all and everything.
In the times of adversity, God stands by His people (Phil. 1:20). The pastor taught to avoid pride as the Bible says in the book of Proverb 13:10 that "only by pride commeth contention: but with the well advised is wisdom".
The pastor then dwelled on the abbreviation of "JOY" that ‘J’ stands for Jesus first in everything, the letter ‘O’ for ‘others’ and ‘Y’ for ‘you.’ This is the ‘joy’ in rejoicing in the Lord (Phil.4:4), the pastor said. He further urged the gathering from the passage (Phil.2:14) which said one should not complain, criticize or argue but to shine brightly for Jesus.
In the second session, Walter Lillo and Dr. Richard Jacob took the two consecutive spiritual teachings sessions by imparting the Gospel messages on the principles of how to ‘win the Muslims’ to the Lord Jesus Christ. They also shared God's messages from the book of Corinthians.
