Patkai Christian College Evangelical Union marks Golden Jubilee

Patkai, September 21 (MExN): The Evangelical Union (EU) of Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) celebrated its Golden Jubilee on September 21, 2025, with thanksgiving and reverence under the theme “God’s Faithfulness – Lamentations 3:22-23.”

Marking 50 years of God’s faithfulness since the inception of the ministry in 1975, the celebration began with the inauguration of the Jubilee monolith by the college’s Principal Emeritus, Rev. Dr. Tuisem A. Shishak.

A formal programme followed at the Bundrock Chapel-Auditorium where founding members, leaders, alumni, and well-wishers gathered to recount the Union’s journey. The event began with an invocation by Bino Peseyie, followed by praise and worship.

Tokens of love and appreciation were presented to distinguished pioneers, advisors, and leaders who laid the foundation of the EU ministry, including Rev. Dr. Shishak and the first EU President, S.R. Kent.

Delivering the keynote address, Rev. Edward Mariizii, State Secretary of the Union of Evangelical Students of India (UESI) Nagaland and Principal of Trinity Theological College, reminded the gathering of the essence of the EU vision. He said the ministry was founded on the Word of God and prayer with a mission to evangelize and nurture students to impact the nation.

Rev. Edward called on the younger generation not to be content with numerical growth but to focus on spiritual maturity and the quality of Christian witness. Quoting Colossians 1:28-29, he urged students to remain rooted in Christ and bear fruit reflecting the likeness of Jesus. He likened the ministry to a mustard seed—small at first but destined to grow into a tree providing shelter and life—urging the EU community to be sowers of this seed in their campuses and beyond.

“As we celebrate 50 years, this jubilee is not just a time to look back but a call to move forward in faith. The vision and fire of our pioneers must continue with renewed passion in this generation,” he exhorted.

Greetings were delivered by UESI Nagaland President Viketou Chüpou, former EU leaders, and senior advisors. Speakers recalled the humble beginnings of the fellowship in 1975 under the guidance of Rev. Dr. Shishak when a small group of students, driven by vision and prayer, gave birth to the EU ministry.

The programme also featured special music by the EU family and the release of the Golden Jubilee Souvenir by Rev. Dr. Shishak, who dedicated it with prayer. The souvenir records five decades of ministry impact and stands as a testimony of God’s sustaining grace.

In closing, the Patkai EU reaffirmed its commitment to remain a Christ-centred student fellowship, carrying forward the legacy of faith to future generations. “To God be the glory; great things He has done,” the Union stated.

The Golden Jubilee celebration concluded with a community feast.
