It was a time for nostalgia, fellowship and renewal of bonds with their alma mater as Patkai Christian College (PCC) Autonomous observed the ‘Alumni Sunday’ on February 2 at the Bundrock Chapel Auditorium.

Dr Lanuchuba Walling, Adjunct Professor, Nito Mount Theological College, Zunheboto, recalled the time 23 years back when he graduated from the college and noted that Patkai has produced many graduates who went on to excel in different fields.

However, he regretted that the situation, world-wise and in the context of Nagaland, have not changed much between the two timelines.

In this connection, dwelling on the college’s motto, ‘Light & Truth,’ Dr Walling underscored that while the PCC has had been showing ‘light’ to numerous students, it must also act as beacon in the search for ‘truth.’

He examined the same from the prism of the moral philosophy of absolutism and relativism, and maintained that while post modernism has blurred the line between the two, there is a need for clear distinction while analysing the concept of truth.

Instead of asking, “What is the truth?” Dr Walling said one should be posing, “Who is the truth?”

To this end, he called for bringing Jesus Christ to the core from the periphery, asserting, ‘He is the Truth.’

A special musical performance was rendered by pianist and performer Nise Meruno, who is also an alumnus of PCC while Likokba, another former student, read the scripture.

As the first Sunday of the month, the congregation also partook in the Lord’s Supper, administrated by college’s chaplain.

Every year, on the first Sunday of February, the day is observed where every alumnus is invited to be part of the worship and fellowship. It is usually followed by a meeting, but it could not be held this year, an organiser informed.
Over 50 alumni, many of whom are also serving as faculty in the college, attended the service this year. The alumni association, among others, is involved in campus development, particularly on an ongoing road project.

The church service was followed by fellowship over tea and light lunch where familiar faces reminisced and renewed bond while new acquaintances were made.
