Patton urge students to be trendsetters

Wokha, December 20 (MExN): “Students of the present generation need to be sincere and hardworking to become achievers in life,” Y Patton Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland said while addressing the 50th anniversary celebration of New Changsu Students’ Union at New Changsu Village in Wokha district as Special Guest.


He stressed on the importance of usage of one’s Mother Tongue among the youngsters which is fast losing its importance. Patton also said that the true meaning of Jubilee is to forgive and reconcile adding his hope that the glorious celebrations will usher in bountiful blessings to the students’ community and the village as a whole.


Patton further urged the students the need to give extra effort in their studies besides seeking for extravagant activities and lavish lives. He further said that misuse of mobile phones by the students is affecting their career, as a result of which dropout students keep on increasing in Nagaland.


While addressing the gathering, Patton further encouraged Government High Schools to bring out good results and assured an award of Rs. 2 Lakh to any of the Government High Schools securing cent percent results from his constituency.


Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister also unveiled the Jubilee Monolith at New Changsu Village, which was dedicated by S Liponthung Tungoe Pastor NCBC.


Jubilee theme “Rewind, Restructure and Rebuild” was deliberated by Khyothungo Tungoe Advocate, Notary Public. Welcome Address was delivered by N Lithungo Tungoe president NCSU, while greetings were brought by the President Lotha Students’ Union, and President Englan Range Students’ Union. Akhomo Tungoe, founding President of the Union gave a brief account on the formation of NCSU way back in 1968, while N Nzanbemo Tungoe, Convenor, Planning & Org. Committee proposed vote of thanks.
