Phek, April 6 (MExN): In the run up to the Lok Sabha polls slated on April 9, the Phek District Congress Committee (PDCC) has fervently solicited the attention of the “sensible citizens and communities” of the State to the “contentious and confronting” issues. “A single member elected may not create any deep impact for or against the formation of a preferred government, but the valuable vote cast will definitely testify the true principle and culture of the Nagas as a distinct race in the midst of giant counterparts,” stated a press release issued by PDCC general secretary Pfuche Koza and its president Mikha Kenye.
The statement alleged that regional NPF is “ceremoniously wedded to communal BJP and the former is hysterically excited that the RSS-backed BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Modi, who is looked upon as the political messiah of Hindu politics has, at last arrived to snatch away the power from the evil hands of the Congress.” The dominant NPF in the State, the PDCC said, “attacks the Congress on the ground that the latter stands for Indian nationalism, yet willingly embracing the communalism of BJP without least realization or remorse that Christians too, like other minority communities had severely suffered and died in hundred and thousand in the good hands of the Hindu fanatics like the RSS-VHP-Bajrang Dal in BJP ruled states like Gujarat, Karnataka and allied state like Orissa.”
It further questioned why of all the states should the state of “Nagaland for Christ” ally with “communal BJP” and “most importantly when the church had protested in the past why is the church silent today.” The pointing difference between BJP and NPF, the PDCC asserted, is that “BJP intends to use government for one-nation one-religion whereas NPF intends to sacrifice the one and main religion to remain in government.”
Meanwhile, the PDCC expressed utter shock to see the press statement of the outgoing CM (Nagaland Post 6/4/14) under the headline “Those who are against NPF are against Nagas”. “Considering the predominant Christian population in the state and the marriage between so called Naga-NPF and communal-BJP, the CM statement implies that those who support NPF must support Hindu politics of the BJP and those who go against NPF are against Hindunization of the Nagas.”
PDCC stated it is not against BJP as a political party or the alliance of NDA as such, however, it will not remain a silent spectator to the “unholy nexus” of the RSS & BJP and their communal politics against the spirit and reality of secularism in a free democratic country of India. “Nor will it keep silent on the inevitable fallout of the communal politics of BJP and its full endorsement by the NPF and the surprising silence of the church organization.”
