Peren, April 17 (MExN): The Peren District Football Association (PDFA) organised a ‘See Off’ programme--cum-unveiling of jersey of Peren district team for the upcoming Dr T Ao Football Trophy at Jalukie Town Astro Turf Ground on April 16.

Two sets of jersey were officially unveiled by PDFA advisor, Masangum Hiekha and Pastor of Jalukie Town Baptist Church, Rev Dr Mongzeung Mpom.

Speaking at the programme, PDFA advisor, Masangum Hiekha expressed gratitude to God for the successful completion of its training camp without any misfortune and heath issues.

Hiekha, who is also the president of Jalukie Valley Youth Organisation (JVYO), maintained that the PDFA players are “star players”, who played in state as well as national level competitions.

He also encouraged the players not to take steps to gain popularity in the first place, but to seek God first, which would eventually raise them to gain popularity.

The advisor also appealed the players to give their best and utilize their tactics and skills in the 90-minute play with discipline and full spirit of sportsmanship and challenged them to do away with doubts and negativity which would impact their performances in the long run.

He hoped that the PDFA team would do their best and bring home the Dr T Ao Football Trophy, starting from April 18.

Hiekha also disclosed the assurance given by the Chief Minister of Nagaland to renovate the present Astro Turf Ground at Jalukie Town into and international standard sized astro turf ground.

The work order for the said project was out and sanction has been made and execution of work could start any time soon, he added.

While blessing the PDFA team, Rev Dr Mpom urged the players to not forget that there is “one audience” who he referred as none other than God. He therefore, appealed the players to first seek God and bring glory and laurel to the district.

The official launching was followed by an exhibition match between PDFA officials and donors’ team as well as a friendly match between Peren district team and JVYO.

The Peren District team would be led by Ratobe N Poireng as captain, Winamthiu Ringdi as vice captain, Keyigumgwangbe Thou as coach, Chamchangbo as team manager, Tuntan as assistant manager and Keheinam as team physio, as per a release from the event.
