Jalukie, March 23 (MExN): Defending champions Lekie Mtei FC defeated Friends of Society to clinch the Peren District Football League 3.0 title at the Astro Turf Ground in Jalukie Town.
The final began at a brisk pace, with Lekie Mtei FC opening the scoring in the 9th minute when Nsamlungbe’s powerful strike was mishandled by the opposing goalkeeper into the net. The early goal allowed the defending champions to control proceedings.
However, Friends of Society equalised just before halftime, as Lungpetsing struck a strong low shot to find the net in stoppage time (45+1).
In the second half, Lekie Mtei FC reasserted their dominance, with Puiheilung capitalising on a defensive lapse inside the box to score in the 57th minute. The goal proved decisive as Lekie Mtei FC held on to secure victory and lift the title for the second time.
