If I happen to be so negative, forgive me for what I am going to talk about. However, I think those are some of the things which betray the glory of the Nagas. The so-called Peace-loving people (Nagas); whether we really love Peace? Can anyone differentiate the Nagas of today (peace period) and that of the then? If someone asks me what the benefit of Naga Peace is, let me honestly whisper, “Peace kills more Nagas than War. So the loss of innocent lives and Naga leader is the profit.” War kills brave soldiers but Peace kills good leaders. I am not anti-Naga but I believe “self praise is not praise” and one should not praise when it is not deserved. Of course this is nothing new; however such practices are ridiculous to see.
When we talk of no peace in our land, people open their mouths to blame and to mock the underground and point their fingers to the factions as if they are the only Criminals and anti-peace. Fortunately and unfortunately we have them. But the question is whether there is peace within the civil societies, NGOs who are seeking this Peace? We are seeking the Peace in New Delhi and abroad when we don’t have even a drop of peace at home. People speak courageously and loudly about peace wherever there is a good end for him. But they will not listen, though they can hear, and will not look, though they can see, if there is no good end for the so-called peace makers. They want to work where they require and not where they are required.
Then what about the Church leaders and workers who are longing and shouting for Peace? You may take a peep into how they behave in front of money. When they are invited to pray for the sick people in rich families, they will rush and spend maximum time in praying by shedding crocodile tears. But when the same problem happens in some family that is financially not sound, they will go only after they are called at least twice and start with the words “I told you to believe in God, attend the Church, don’t neglect tithes and offerings and Church activities. It is because of your sin,” and will pray an exhortation prayer for the sick and the needy. This is how the Churches are serving the Lord and paving the way to heaven.
And here’s another – brethren who are struggling to reclaim the snatched away Naga freedom and for sovereign Naga Country. Why do brothers kill each other? Do you really believe in what you are doing as to defend your nation by killing your brother and friend? Do you think that people will believe when you justify by saying “to defend the nation, I killed my friend or brother”? People are mourning for the lost Naga National leader who truly worked, and longing for the true National leader who can liberate them from the bondage of their own brother. True leaders, some are dead and some are not yet born. Is there any better reason why you kill your own people than for money? Or is there any better reason why you kill friends than to occupy the Commercial place and Town from where money comes?
There are many high ranking officers in the Naga army today, who have been promoted for killing their friend and neighbour just for being in another faction. If one kills his own friend and brother, his Commander and group will honour him as ‘national hero’ and promote to higher rank. If the situation continues, there will be no more Constable or Private within a short span of time. The saying of our forefathers is true. They said, “To hunt human being is easier than to hunt wild beast. Human being has a specific place and common timing whereas animal has not.” To kill your brother and neighbour is not a hard job because you know well their whereabouts. What right is there to poke your nose?” If peace is a problem, why don’t we give the peace back from whom we got?
Today, people talk about peace by keeping their eyes on money and once they arrive there, they will keep up even if they do not achieve what they are talking about. Nagas can stand even against the mighty nation but cannot stand against money. He will shiver in front of money. As long as we remain a slave to money, we also will remain as slave in the hands of our Captor because the opium (money) used by the captors is sufficient for the Nagas and our mouth is locked by money. Even Great Britain we defeated, but today who is the Winner?
