Kohima, OCT 21 (MExN): The University Grant Commission (UGC) has approved a Centre for Peace Studies in Nagaland University (NU). Talking to The Morung Express, NU’s Vice Chancellor Professor GD Sharma said the centre will be undertaking peace related studies and research in Nagaland and it would start within this year.

Further, the North East Vice Chancellor’s meet would be hosted by Nagaland University at Kohima this year. The meet will discuss on the overall status of higher education in the North East including Jammu and Kashmir. The conclave will take place from December 8 to 9. The meet would also deliberate upon professional education in the region, the Vice Chancellor said. Dignitaries from the Ministry of Education are also expected to attend the meet. Nagaland University has already contacted the Governor of Goa, S.C. Jamir for his presence. Further, the NU is set to seek suggestion from Governors of all the North eastern states for the success of the meet.
