Peace talks are for piece-meal solution, says NSCN-K

Dimapur, Oct 18 (MExN): The peace-talks between the Government of India and the NSCN-IM will be nothing short of a piecemeal solution, asserted the NSCN-K today and cautioned that any solution short of sovereignty for the Nagas would put the people into a situation ‘far more worse that Afghanistan and Iraq’.  “A preview to the ongoing talk, the two entities of the talk, GOI-IK, have shown their real intents as a result of which, we Nagas have witnessed and experienced different forms of emotional and physical tests” an MIP/GPRN release from its Secretary stated. adding that lately the NSCN-IM have unleashed a terror campaign in connivance with the Indian armed forces under the shadow of the peace talks. “The so-called leaders of the two entities are cozily having talk with much hope of their own and to their advantage, while Nagaland is in a state of furnace – a bloody battle ground and at the same time turning the government institutional buildings as dens of the IK terrorists and the Indian armed forces. All these can be attributed to the latest misadventures of both the parties involved in the so-called Naga political talks” the NSCN-K maintained.

It cited some instances of the asserted ‘misadventures’: joint operations of the Assam Rifles and NSCN-IM against the NSCN-K for more than two years at None, Tamenglong district; arresting of two NSCN-K cadres and seizure of two AK-47 rifles by a joint NSCN-IM and Assam Rifles team at Sukhalu, south of Zunheboto; seizure of 3867 rounds of ammunitions at Chumukedima on September 2 and handing them over to the NSCN-IM on October 13; ultimatum issued to NSCN-K cadres to leave Zunheboto by the Indian forces and NSCN-IM “led by the so-called Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, whereas IK terrorists are made to carry out all forms of terrorisms in IRB and full combat uniforms all over Nagaland, especially at Dimapur”.

Further, the NSCN-K questioned what solution or peace can be expected for the Nagas if leaders “with dubious characters” are negotiating to “subdue each other with their wishful thinking”. “However, the NSCN is ready to welcome any solution of the IK-terrorist for their own problems under the constitution of India. But at the same time warns that any solution short of sovereignty for the Nagas will experience a state of affairs far worst that the situations in Afghanistan and Iraq” the NSCN-K added.
