Phek, December 1 (MExN): Along with the rest of the world, Phek District Integrated Strategy for HIV and AIDS (DISHA) on Monday observed World AIDS Day at Dr Wethselo T Mero Memorial hall, District Hospital Phek.
The day was observed under the theme “Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response” with Rhosietho Nguori NCS Deputy Commissioner Phek as the special guest.
In his address, Nguori said that “people living with HIV deserve out love, respect and emphathy,” while pointing out that stigma and discrimination still exists in our society.
At the same time, he stated that HIV & AIDS is still a threat to the society, even though numerous awareness campaign, seminar etc is being organised.
Vezovo Rhakho, President, PTCSU in his exhortation, appealed to the Health Department to emphasise more on the religious and social ways while educating the students and public in general on the routes of HIV & AIDS. Rhakho also encouraged the health staff to continue conducting awareness program on HIV& AIDS.
The program was chaired Kuduvo Kezo DPO, DISHA while the invocation was pronounced by Awate Akami Youth Director PBC DEF. The welcome address was delivered by Kevelhou Koza Accountant ELF and vote of thanks was given by DRP LWS, Phek.
