Peren Council reaffirms on admin, nomenclature and govt properties

Peren, January 18 (MExN): Peren Council, the Apex body of the entire Peren community after its “reorganisation” had its maiden interaction with the District Administration Peren on January 5 at the District Head Quarter complex wherein a representation was submitted to the government. The Peren Council stated in a press note that some important points were conveyed to the government.

The press note was appended by the Peren Council led by its President Gumchu, Secretary Dr.Ndangkie Ndang with Executive Member & Chairman Kejanglwa Hiareuzinbe Hegui, Executive Member & Chairman Old Peren Haisobi Hega, Executive Member & ChairmanNew Peren Namnabi Hegui along with other executives.

One Administration

The government in its monthly planning board meeting held in the month of April 2015, proposed to create a separate Sub-division for the existing Peren Town. The Peren Council stated that the Peren villages (Old Peren, New Peren and Kezjanglwa) made an MOU with the government of Nagaland for the extension and expansion of the existing Town. Hence, it is the united desire of the of the Peren people to remain as one family under one administration. “Take note that any attempt to create any new sub-division within our jurisdiction without our consent will not be accepted at this juncture,” the Council stated.

Nomenclature of the head quarter complex

The Peren Council noted that very often, the government in its official correspondences erroneously mentioned head quarter complex as the New Peren Head quarter complex which creates confusion in the minds of the people because New Peren as a village is already in existence. Henceforth, for all official purposes, the Model township area should be called as “Head Quarter complex/DC complex Peren Town” and not otherwise.

Need to protect and preserve government properties

Further, the Council stated that the Government of Nagaland vide notification No.GAB-4/5/93 (Pt-II) dated Kohima the 24th October 2003 upgraded Peren subdivision to that of a district for which we remain highly indebted and grateful. It also mentioned that Peren town was officially inaugurated as the Administrative Head quarters of the Zeliangs on 1st April 1947. “The Peren village council has remained a true custodian and guardian of the District head quarters of the Zeliang having sacrificed our time and land with all its resources without any compensation whatsoever till date.”

However, the Council stated that some individuals are trying to forcibly encroach the government land. Certain structures of the government buildings and staff quarters are being dismantled and taken away by unscrupulous persons. Some quarters are illegally occupied by undeserving persons.

“We gave our valuable land for developmental purposes and if government cannot protect its land and properties, the land donor (Peren Community) shall take possession of all the land donated to the government including the government establishments/quarters of Peren town,” added the Council.

It further stated that any attempt to issue patta/permit to any individual by the government against the government land will not be tolerated at any cost. “Should there be any land pattas/permit issued by the government to the private individuals/organisation, such should be revoked/cancelled immediately otherwise we will be compelled to resort to appropriate action to protect our land and our rights,” the Council added.
