“Freedom is my birth right, my right should be given to me and I do not think I am wrong in demanding what I deserve”, iterated Samuel Jindei, MLA 53 Tamenglong A/C Manipur. He said that peace should come from within rather than without, i.e., from ‘you and me’.

He also recollected the sufferings of the Nagas prior to Indian Independence hitherto due to the divisive “colonial policy” of the Indian government. “The present unconditional talks of the Indo-Nagas at the highest level allows discussion of anything under heaven and earth.... and since our leaders have already placed their proposals, let us hope that an honourable solution would be hammered out” he further added.
Also speaking at the rally, Neingulo Krome, General Secretary, Naga Hoho said that 9 years of peace talks is nothing short of domination, and called upon the underground factions to shun violence.
“All the past years of turmoil we have stood for you and today we are ready to stand and follow any groups or factions who will lead us,” he said. He further asked the various elements who had been trying to sabotage the peace process as to “what was honourable or what was acceptable according to them as we are ready to pay with our lives to whoever leads us towards the right direction”.
Alal Singson, Ex-KUki Inpi Vice president representing Ahthibung Circle who also spoke at the rally, strongly stressed the need to bring back the peaceful and congenial social atmosphere in the area.
