Kohima, April 16 (MExN): The Peren Treasury Office was inaugurated on April 16 at the new district headquarters, marking its shift from Old Peren Town. Advisor for Treasuries & Accounts and Art & Culture, K. Konngam Konyak, inaugurated the office in the presence of officials from the department and district administration.
In his address, Konyak stressed the need to safeguard government property and raised concern over public negligence towards such assets. He pointed to improvements in road infrastructure in Peren and said the district has seen significant developmental changes over the years. He also highlighted the agricultural potential of the district, stating that effective use of land could ensure economic self-sufficiency and contribute to food security. He urged people to focus on productive land use instead of depending on government employment and contract work.
He further expressed concern over low enrolment in ITI centres and said vocational training is necessary for skill development and self-reliance.
ADC Peren, D. Robin, said the relocation of the treasury office to the district headquarters was a “significant and well-planned milestone,” adding that it would improve administrative efficiency and facilitate smoother financial transactions.
