Period Positivity: Empowering Teen Cycles

Under the Banner of “Beauty With a Purpose”, Alo A Yepthomi, Miss Sümi 2024 Second Runner Up, organised the first phase of her “She Leads: Power Through Knowledge” Project titled “Period Positivity: Empowering Teen Cycles” at MultiPurpose Hall, Thahekhu. 

The initiative was held under the banner of Sümi Totimi Hoho and in collaboration with Boditive India. Ten teenage girls each from Government High School Thahekhu, Grace Academy, Inache Memorial School, Livingstone Foundation International and Trinity High School along with a teacher were invited to participate in the event.

Alo A Yepthomi strongly encouraged the young girls to not be ashamed but be proud of their cycle which is a natural process, which makes life possible. She also reminded them that change starts with them and that it’s time to break the stigma around menstruation. 
Avitoli Yepthomi, the founder of Boditive India also gave insights about Period, pads and power.

She further elaborated on how to choose the right pad for the hygiene and care and also how important this discussion is to break the taboo.

Among the Invitees included the President of Thahekhu Sümi Totimi Loka, Vice President of Western Sümi Totimi Hoho, Church staff of Thahekhu Village Baptist Church,

The event began with invocation by Dr. Phitoli Khala, Women Pastor, TVBC and a special number was presented by Mr. Puloka Ayemi. It concluded with the benediction by Mr. Joseph Jeriel Chiqimi, Youth Pastor TVBC.

Boditive India also distributed sample pads to all the students and gift hampers to the special Invitees.
