PFPSD raises concern over SBI officer’s transfer in Pungro

KIPHIRE, DECEMBER 17 (MExN): The Public Forum Pungro Sub-Division (PFPSD) has expressed concern over the recent transfer of a Field Officer of the State Bank of India (SBI), Pungro branch, without the posting of a reliever, stating that the move has disrupted banking services in the area.

In a press statement, the forum said the Field Officer, who was posted to the branch in August 2025, had significantly improved the functioning of the bank by efficiently addressing customer grievances, clearing pending work and ensuring smoother operations. His presence, it said, provided much-needed relief to residents of the remote sub-division who depend heavily on the branch for essential banking services.

However, the forum said his transfer on November 24, 2025, without a reliever, has resulted in interrupted services, delays in transactions and a growing number of unresolved customer grievances.

Citing the geographical remoteness of Pungro and limited manpower at the branch, the forum said the absence of a Field Officer has adversely affected the bank’s day-to-day operations.

The PFPSD has urged the higher authorities of the State Bank of India to reconsider the transfer order and either retain the Field Officer at the Pungro branch or immediately post a competent reliever to ensure uninterrupted banking services.

It also warned that any further delay could compel the public to intensify democratic protests, while expressing hope that the authorities would act promptly in the larger public interest.
