Dr.Imtimeren inaugurating the recently built PHC at Merangkong village, on July 16.
Dimapur, July 17 (MExN): Merangkong PHC building was inaugurated on July 16, 2011 by Dr. Imtimeren, Principal Director, Health & Family Welfare in presence of Dr.G.Kemp Joint Director, Dr.Ngangshimeren Deputy Director, Dr.Kika Longkumer Deputy Director and other officials from the department.
During a brief inaugural programme Dr.Imtimeren Principal Director lauded the Merangkong Village Council for donating the new site and the contractors for successful completion of the PHC. Pointing out the functions and responsibilities, Dr.Imtimeren said PHC must promote preventive measures through OPD and Indoor and implement various health programmes. He called upon the community to make use of the PHC as one’s own and also encouraged the medical officer and health workers to deliver their service regularly. He urged the villagers and health workers to coordinate to uplift the PHC which in turn will benefit the community. He expressed hope that the PHC would be productive and served as an example for other health centers in providing the health care services. He assured that the department will look into the needs and requirements of the PHC.
Dr.G.Kemp, Joint Director exhorted the community to contribute towards the health sector since Government alone cannot achieve communitization. Health is more important and everything starts from village level, he added. He also encouraged co-ordination between health workers and community for smooth functioning of PHC. Imdang (Tatar) Putu secretary on behalf of all the villagers thanked the department for looking into the needs and keeping the commitments for the welfare of the community. The new PHC building with 14 Rooms was constructed under NRHM fund amounting to 64 lakhs.
The inaugural programme was chaired by HCMC chairman, welcome speech was given by CMO, Mokokchung and special number was presented by Youth department, Merangkong village. The programme was attended by programme officers, Senior Medical officers, and HCMC members, Village councils of Merangkong, Asangma and Kangching.
