Mon, September 23 (MExN): A one-day basic training workshop on skill development under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) Support Activity was held at the Office of the Executive Engineer (EE), PHED Mon Division on September 21.

A total of 80 participants including WATSAN Committee members and Swachhagrahis from 25 Villages where the JJM is currently being implemented under Mon district attended the workshop, a press release informed.

The workshop consisted of an introductory session followed by practical session where the participants were trained on four trades namely Masonry, Plumbing, Welding and Electrician, it said. 

The skilling training was organised to ensure the sustainability of the water supply infrastructures in maintaining the operation & maintenance after the completion of JJM schemes, it added. 

Meanwhile, a programme on Sarpanch Samvaad was also held at the office of the EE Mon Division on September 20 in view of 100 days Campaign activities as a part of 75 years of India’s Independence (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav).

The programme was held an aim to pass resolution to maintain Open Defecation Free (ODF) sustainability, ban on Single-Use Plastic (SUP) and also encourage construction of Soak pits to manage grey water, the release said. 

Training on water quality testing for use of Field Testing Kits (FTKs) was also given to women members of WATSAN Committee of these villages, it added.
