Phek Government College has become the first fully light-emitting diode (LED) illuminated institution in the Phek District.
A certificate in recognition of the institution's efforts towards becoming energy efficient was handed over to the college on September 24 by Deputy Commissioner Phek, Orenthung Lotha, a DIPR reported informed.
The LED bulbs were donated to the college by the Alumni Association of Phek Government College.
During the event, the DC lauded the Principal, faculty and staff for the tireless services towards upliftment of the college despite the numerous constraints, it said. Lotha also appreciated the Alumni Association for their support and concern towards the college and their alma mater, it added.
The Principal, Dr D Mekhro expressed gratitude to the DC, who is also the Advisory board chairman and the District administration Phek, for the continuous support to the college.
A lot of positive developments are being initiated by the Department of Higher Education through the involvement of the DC and his officers besides the financial grant from LADP common pool for which he also thanked the Legislators of the district, the report said, quoting the Principal.
The College is also awaiting assessment by NAAC (UGC) during October-November, it added.
The President of the Alumni Association also spoke during the programme while the Vice Principal proposed the vote of thanks.
