Phek Police arrest one for alleged rape of minor

Phek, January 31 (MExN): Phek Police has registered a case for the alleged rape of a minor girl on multiple occasions, which resulted in her pregnancy. The case was filed following a written complaint received by the police on January 30, stated an update received here.

The case has been registered under Sections 64(1)/74/75(1)(i)(ii)/96 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, read with Sections 4/8/12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 at the Women's Police Station, Phek (Case No. 0002/26).

Phek Police arrested the alleged accused on the same day, and necessary action was done. “Investigation of the case is ongoing and accused is forwarded to judicial custody. Phek Police assured timely completion of investigation with logical result.”

The police have issued an advisory to the public, urging them to respect the victim’s privacy. The public is urged to refrain from circulating any information that could lead to the identification of the victim. Such an act is a punishable offence under Section 72 of the BNS, 2023, and Section 23 of the POCSO Act, the police cautioned.

Phek Police assured that the investigation will be completed in a timely manner for a logical conclusion.
