Phek Town Youth Society launched

Dimapur, August 21 (MExN): The Phek Town Youth Society which was formed on July 30, 2011, was officially launched on August 16 at the Clock Tower, Phek Town. The programme was attended by D.C Phek, S.P Phek, Chief Advisor PTC, NGOs’, G.Bs’ and public leaders apart from youths of Phek Town.
The society solemnly resolved to protect and progress through unity, proclaims and declared the foundation day and officially launched the office in the presence of all the other NGOs’, government administration, officials and public of Phek town. The society also commits to work hand in hand with the other esteem and competent NGOs’ and government administration for the welfare and all round development of our youth in particular and people in general. This was stated in a press note issued by its president Neihite Akami, vice president Zachive Rhakho, general secretary Seyiengoi Soho, joint secretary Avi Movi, banker Wekute U Kapfo, women coordinator Thujosalu Dozo.
Mikha Lomi, Deputy Commissioner Phek and Shevotso Rhakho chief advisor PTC who exhorted the gathering also lauded the innovative formation and called for co-operation of the PTYS with the government and other frontal bodies and organisations while tackling the social issues cautiously and rationally. The programme was chaired by Neizote Venuh while Niehite Akami, president of the PTYC read out the aims and objectives of the society. Later officials present declared formation of the society.
 
Aims and objectives: The Phek Town Youth Society was formed on July 30, 2011, after a series of consultative meeting housed by 11 youth bodies of Phek town. The 11 autonomous youth bodies unanimously agreed to merge together as one, under the banner and nomenclature; Phek Town Youth Society. Leaving behind all the past differences, confined/limited autonomy, deprived youth empowerment etc

Youth Empowerment: The Phek Town Youth Society was formed to usher every youth of Phek town to a better and responsible person irrespective of backgrounds, education, mother tongue etc, through youth empowerment. Thereby, the society shall adhere for the growth of youths through Sports, Seminars, Workshops, Talent Expo, Expeditions and Adventures etc. and not forgetting to priorities work culture in all the activities they take up. The Society shall strive to promote employment through various avenues available and provisioned by the government, especially Youth Resource and Sports department. It shall also work towards prevention of HIV AIDS and other disease threatening our society.

Protection Of Flora And Fauna: Global warming and wild life extinction which has now become the key importance and precedence of the world, the Society shall also voice and adhere towards the works of progress and development of our peaceful eco-system, while contributing towards the mission of the world for the present and future generation
Beautification of environment: As youth and beauty are vis-a-vis, the society shall do its best in altering and beautifying our town by taking up sanitation drives, planting flowers and embellishing plants in public places, and introducing public parks in the town. The Society therefore, through the above mentioned programmes shall strive to make our town a better and healthier place to breed in.

Anti anti-social elements: Any individual or group intending to test the peace and tranquillity of the town by practising any form of anti social element shall be severely dealt with.  The society shall stand firm to protect the rights of the people so that justice, peace and unity prevail in our ideal society. Any person irrespective of age, sex, profession who violate the resolutions of the Phek Town Youth Society and thereby break the social fabric shall be condemned.

Preservation of Culture and Tradition: Culture and Tradition are one which cannot be taken away but can be lost if not preserved. With the advent of modernization the richness and uniqueness of our culture is threatened, losing its originality and is on the verge of extinction. The youth society shall practically advocate to preserve and protect our culture and tradition by organizing cultural programmes.
