Phek & Zunheboto DPDB meetings held

PHEK/ZUNHEBOTO, DECEMBER 13 (MExN): The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meetings in Phek and Zunheboto were combined with Advent Christmas celebrations, bringing together government officials, board members, and district officers to reflect on the festive season while addressing key developmental agendas.

In Phek, the meeting was held at the Tourist Spot, Tekûmle Tizu, Meluri, under the chairmanship of Z Nyusietho Nyuthe, DPDB Chairman and Advisor for New and Renewable Energy and NSDMA. Discussions included proposals for establishing a Sub-Treasury Office and a District Programme Officer (Social Welfare Department) office in Meluri, upgrading the Meluri District Hospital, and registering the Phek District Music and Art Society. These proposals were forwarded to relevant authorities for approval.

The event also featured a Christmas message by Rev. Fr. Toury Kallurumbel, Parish Priest of St. Xavier Church, Meluri, who encouraged attendees to embrace the spirit of giving and compassion central to the season. Advisors Kudecho Khamo and Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe shared festive greetings, while DFO Phek, Entiwekha Wezah, provided personal reflections. Special songs and prayers added to the celebration, which was attended by district officers and staff, led by Deputy Commissioner John Tsulise Sangtam.

Meanwhile, in Zunheboto, the DPDB meeting and Advent Christmas celebration took place at Arkha Farm, Tizu Valley, chaired by MLA and DPDB Chairman, Er. Picto Shohe. The program began with a cake-cutting ceremony, followed by discussions on district development. Shohe highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts, assuring full support for initiatives from various departments.

During the meeting, the board approved a grant-in-aid proposal for Evergreen School, Satakha, to be forwarded for further action. Deputy Commissioner Rahul Bhanudas Mali extended festive greetings, and the event concluded with a grand feast, fostering camaraderie and goodwill.
