Phekmi Welfare Union Kohima attains 25 yrs

The Phekmi Welfare Union Kohima (PWUK) celebrated its 25th anniversary at Highland Park on December 10. Gracing the occasion, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, Leader of NPF Legislature Party and Co-Chairman UDA, Government of Nagaland, Azo urged upon the people to stay connected with the feeling of oneness and strive towards peaceful coexistence and all round development.

Further, he called upon the people to get out of their comfort zone and step forward to compete with the competitive world. Azo, who hail from Phek village, asked the community to exercise the application of common sense, adding that as long as one remain within its comfort zone, they will not prosper. He called upon the people to positively accept the advice as well as criticism.

Sharing greetings, Chakhesang Hoho Kohima (CHK) President, Theja Therieh complimented PWUK for completing 25 glorious years since its formation in 1997. He maintained that PWUK is a strong pillar of CHK and acknowledged their contribution towards a common cause. Therieh called upon the community not to have inferiority complex but to struggle and learn to live cohesively with others. He told the people to do away with supremacy to uphold the atmosphere of goodwill.

Stressing on the need on the need to broaden the horizon of investment skills, he called upon the community to strengthen their lifestyle and be part of sustainable economic growth. “We have to venture into international arena,” he said.

Later, he released PWUK souvenir.

Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) President, Vezuhii Keyho said, “We have to march ahead” and told the gathering to compete with others with positive attitude. He called upon the community not to remain complacent but to strive harder for excellence in the various fields.

Earlier, PWUK President, Zhokupa Hoshi delivered presidential address while welcome address was delivered by Vechisa Venuh, convenor Silver Jubilee Planning Committee. Veshezo Keyho invoked God’s blessing for the celebration. PWUK’s first convenor Vedusayi Soho highlighted the brief history on the formation of PWUK.

The programme was chaired by PWUK vice president Surhoneyi Soho while act of blessings and dedication was pronounced by Rev Velayoyi Keyho. Zhozo & Co, Mrs and Mr Pelesa Keyho presented special numbers.

A new team of PWUK executives for the tenure have been announced by Veduvo Rhakho. It will be led by Surhoneyi Soho as president and Pelesa Keyho as general secretary.
