What do you think is the purpose of life? Different people will promptly provide to this query with diverse and probably contradictory theories which they have so well and firmly conceptualized in their mind out of either their reasoning or faith. I call them theories without any inclination towards both my faith and reasoning for I can be argued against that someone’s tenet is not any other regular theory but the Truth. It goes without saying, though, that I cannot be argued against when I call them theories!
Yes, what is the purpose of life, if there is any at all?! And what is truth or reality? This question may haul us to a debate over a stretch of time... Furthermore, when we ponder the above sentence, it draws us yet again into another interesting philosophical insight – concept of time. In this way, our discussion may prolong with each word uttered and will probably keep our mind occupied ad infinitum! Gladly, the purpose here is not to alter our brain wave and activate our grey cells till our hair turns grey!
I sometimes wonder how it would feel to be a star though it itself is devoid of feelings! Yes, a star in the universe; lifeless, yet sustaining all lives (remember, Sun is a small star). Given a choice, I’d be the morning star (presuming that Venus is yet to be discovered!) which shines very perceptibly even after all other stars become invisible to the naked eye. But lo! With the discovery of Venus, people realized that the morning star and evening star were in fact the planet Venus and hence, a single entity or a body.
The realization of these supposedly two entities as a single object dawned on people that Venus was endowed with two entities when in fact it was the one and the same object. Some contemplation on identity and language is called for in here. Oops! Here I go all grey again!!
I have tried to scribble essays or passages for not more than a few times in my life; more often than not, giving up after a couple of jumbled paragraphs. This time, the predilection to enliven my feeling has been so intense that I have pained to retrieve a dusty old pen and try to put into comprehensible words my urge. Yes, my newly discovered greatest urge!
We all have urges, don’t we? Urge to be artificially more beautiful (ahmm..), urge to become superficially powerful, richer, stronger etc. I haven’t met anyone yet with a similar desire or an urge as strong as mine: to be a star. Yes, I’d rather be the lifeless star generating and sustaining lives, emanating light to non-luminous objects. I’d rather be lifeless but self-luminous and radiate other bodies and objects. Oh, that I were a star!
Duh! What is the purpose of this article? Not definitely a concise discourse on Philosophy. Nor is it any testimony of someone being a psychopath!
Do you think I write regularly? Do you think I wrote this in pleasure? Do you think these paragraphs make sense? Do you think I wrote this at night? Do you think I wrote this sitting under a fan?! Do you think this article is worth publishing? Do you think I’m lunatic?!
Discard all the questions with a big “NO”! Some of the questions might have been happily and positively responded only if there was no power crisis! Gosh!! Yes, the gist here is the prevailing power situation in our small, dark state. It has got on everyone’s nerves. It has made me a pessimist and a psychotic. Some powerful and intelligent energy, transform me into a lifeless star!!!
Does it imply I give up living, for simply not getting proper electricity?! Silly, it only explicates one’s desire to shove off all people responsible for the power crisis; calls for some serious thought! Does it imply I no more wish to be on this side of earth? Possible... hmm...
Can anyone hear? Does anybody care? Is the Ministry of Power hearing (reading)??? Ssshhh... Political power play has blinded some and we doubt if the rest can read at all! Is the Power Department hearing??? Ssshhhh… They are reclining on their couch and blaming the Ministry and what not. Are the Students’ bodies and various NGOs hearing? Is the public hearing??? I wish! I wish we do, and act.
