Dear Fellow people, let me share a few points about Physical Fitness”.
~ What is Physical Fitness?
*Physical Fitness is a state of physical health of the well-being and more specifically, the ability to perform the aspirations of Sports disciplines and daily activities of human lives. Physical fitness is generally achieved through proper diet, nutritional ingredients, moderate-vigorous physical exercise and proper rest on a routine base.
Physical fitness help us to be free from diseases like BP, Diabetes, Cholesterol, Stress, etc.
Physical fitness enables humanity to perform the Ministry of God both physically and spiritually where the duo always goes hand in hand.
Train in Fitness opens ways to detest unhealthy activities like being involved in regular alcoholic habits, gambling, the use of drugs and substances and many more.
Physical exercise is “Biblical” (1 Timothy: 4:8). Yes Paul speaks of moral intellectual and spiritual discipline rather than physical training. But he accepted the physical value of exercise. Holiness holds the benefits of human lives as it holds the promise for the present life & also for the life to come, subsequently physical training has its benefits. Just as our body is the temple of God. (Corin: 3:16, 17) we have to care for it, we have to see that it is not abused or defiled but be treated well for God's Spirit to dwell in!.
Corinthians Church lacks spiritual discipline and therefore Paul stresses the requirement of “Self Discipline” like a sports person to achieve the heavenly crown.
(1 Corinthians: 9:24-27)
Paul uses athletes’ illustrations to describe their striving for truth and wise living. He portrays discipline and self-sacrifices as a necessity to live a real Christian life through the analogy of race (foot race, boxing etc) as the above sports are very important events in Greece (Corin);
Ancient Olympic Games originated in Greece, (Olympia) in 776BC & Modern Olympic started in Athens (Greece) in 1896.
Those were the days when an athlete went for 10 months of intensive training to win a Gold medal and thus Paul encouraged the Christians to live in the same way they are striving to be victors of the race with dedication, challenge and effort.
Yes, Paul target was on imperishable crown & it is the top priority thing of every Believers; Henceforth it is viewed crystal clear that Physical fitness has its importance in its way.
In the event any sports event or profession in the worldly society became a worshiper of the Sports / sports icons by replacing God, it is seriously considered as a very wrong and devilish act,
However, putting God first in every walk of life and glorifying God through profession is scriptural as well.
Believers should be motivated to bring glory to God in everything we do, or choose not to do.
“Whatever you do, do it for the glory of God. (Corin: 10:31).
