People were pleasantly surprised when open advertisement was announced for various posts in Nagaland Police. After the job advertisement came out, many youths started jogging and exercising with hopes in their eyes. Football grounds in the colonies were filled with hopeful aspirants. The fat ones wanted to lose weight and the thin ones tried to gain weight. There were lots of excited talk about how and what the physical and written test will be. The youths waited and waited but unfortunately, the said recruitment never came.
Now when most youths had once again concluded that Backdoor Appointments have eaten their dreams again, the Nagaland Police has advertised that recruitment will take place from September 24. The youths are filled with hopes once again.
But there is also scepticism that the names of selected candidates have already been prepared and this recruitment test is just a fake show. A policeman or policewoman selected on their own merit will be in a better position to not bow down before tribalistic or political pressures tomorrow.
Since the police deals with very difficult issues like saying 'No' to bribes from criminals, killing or being killed in return etc., the public hopes that only the physically, mentally and morally fit will be selected for such important posts.
The youths have extremely high hopes of fairness on the recruiting team. We hope the youths will not be disappointed again.
