PM-DevINE, NEC projects reviewed at Dimapur meet

Dimapur, January 19 (MExN): A review meeting on the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East (PM-DevINE) and schemes of the North Eastern Council (NEC) was held on January 17 at Hotel Saramati in Dimapur.

The meeting was chaired by Angshuman Dey, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER). It focused on reviewing the utilisation status of released funds, submission of demands and progress reports under the PM-DevINE and NEC schemes.

All concerned departments attended the meeting and presented updated reports on the status of implementation of their respective projects.

On the same day, Dey inspected the construction works of the 220/132kV (2×100 MVA) and 132/33kV (2×50 MVA) Tsitrongse–Dimapur substation being executed under the PM-DevINE scheme. He also visited the upgradation works of the Radiation Oncology Department at the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR), Dimapur, and reviewed the progress of the project.

On January 18, the Joint Secretary carried out inspections of projects being implemented under the PM-DevINE and NEC schemes in Dimapur district. During the inspection, he visited Thiluxu village and reviewed an NEC-funded project on value addition in coffee. The project includes procurement of coffee roasting machines and capacity-building through entrepreneurship training, and aims to improve market access, strengthen local enterprises and enhance income generation for coffee growers and entrepreneurs.

Dey also inspected the construction of a Common Facility Centre (CFC) Emporium for Handloom and Handicraft at Agri Expo Nagaland, implemented by the Nagaland Khadi and Village Industries Board (NKVIB). He further visited the state-of-the-art Cane and Bamboo Technology facility at the Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre under the Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA).

During the inspections, the Joint Secretary was accompanied by S D Meena, Director, MDoNER; Temsunaro Aier, Development Commissioner, Government of Nagaland; Hekato N, Additional Director, Department of Land Resources; Er Kasho Chishi, Chief Engineer (Transmission and Generation); Asangla Imti, Secretary, Power Department, Nagaland; Kuku Mero, State Mission Director, Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency; and Dr Tolto Metha, team member, NBDA, along with other departmental officials.
