Kohima: The Pochury Mothers Association (PMA) and Pochury Women Organisation, Kohima (PWOK) have expressed pain at the murder of a woman whose half nude body was found dumped in Eros Line, Dimapur recently. Vehemently condemning “such horrific act”, the two organizations have appealed to the law enforcing agency to book the culprit(s) and award befitting punishment “so as to send a strong signal to would be perpetrators.” Perpetrators of such cruel and horrific crimes should not be sheltered by anyone, it added.
A press statement appended by the respective presidents of PMA and PWOK further asserted, “The slow legal system in disposing cases is seen as one reason why rapists/murderers remain at large unpunished thereby encouraging other like-minded criminals commit such horrifying offences without any hesitation.” With all seriousness and in view of the repeated occurrences of rapes and murders in the State, PMA and PWOK have appealed to the Government of Nagaland and sensible citizens not to shelter perpetrators of such heinous and cruel crimes. Further, they conveyed their heartfelt sympathies to the victim’s family members.
