Kohima, August 1 (MExN): As part of the ongoing capacity-building and orientation programme under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0, a team of three experts from the State Level Technical Cell (SLTC), Nagaland, conducted a week-long outreach initiative across seven towns from July 21 to 25. The mission team visited Medziphema, Bhandari, Dimapur, East Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Peren, and Tening, engaging with elected Councillors, Government nominees and other stakeholders.
The expert team comprised Nchumthung Ovung (IEC Expert), Neitho Usou (Data Management Expert), and Er Arika Achumi (Engineering Expert). The orientation sessions aimed to sensitize ULB officials, Councillors and stakeholders on the mission’s objectives, components, and implementation strategies. Each session featured detailed presentations and interactive discussions, with a focus on effective project execution, beneficiary outreach, and inter-departmental coordination.
The joint session for Dimapur, East Dimapur, and Chümoukedima held on July 23, was also attended by Temjenrenla Kechu, State Mission Director, PMAY-U and Joint Director & HoD, Municipal Affairs Department.
She addressed the gathering and provided a brief yet insightful overview of the PMAY-U 2.0 Mission, highlighting its core objectives, the importance of urban housing for all, and the need for collaborative efforts at all levels of governance.
The participation and engagement from all the ULBs were encouraging, reflecting a strong commitment to the successful implementation of PMAY-U 2.0 across the State. The team will also be covering the remaining ULBs in the coming days as part of its continued efforts to strengthen the mission’s outreach and ensure consistent understanding and implementation at the local level.
