Dimapur, March 8 (MExN): The Land Resources Department (LRD), Dimapur district organised a culmination programme of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana - Watershed Development Component (PMKSY-WDC) at the Aida hall of Don Bosco School, Dimapur on March 7.


Speaking at the event, Deputy Director of LRD and Supervisory Officer for Dimapur District, Puvil Kikhi acknowledged the community members of all the 20 villages for their contribution towards the successful execution of project activities and for cooperating with the department throughout the entire project tenure.


He urged the beneficiaries to efficiently make use of the Watershed Development Funds (WDF) by strictly adhering to the set conditions as stated under the Project Exit Policy.


He congratulated the LRD team for the successful completion of the projects and encouraged them to keep the same community-serving mentality in order to continue making it possible for the public to avail all government schemes in the future.


Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Pitovi Awomi of Zukihe village expressed gratitude to the entire team of LRD for their tireless effort and support to all the villages throughout the duration of the projects.


Awomi stated that Zukihe village constructed a 'rostrum' in their playground with the financial aid of Rs 80000 from the department. He also pointed out that two Self Help Groups (under Livelihood Activity Component) of the village have now opened a small-scale weekly market along the village road where they sell goods for their livelihood.


Furthermore, he said that the village was able to purchase a shaping stone through the aid of the department, and added that the village was able to produce one blacksmith under Micro-Enterprise Component.


I Acato Chishi (District Project Officer, LRD Dimapur) presented a brief report on PMKSY-WDC under Batch 3 which covered all activities undertaken since the inception of the Project.


He stated that the project was sanctioned in the year 2011-2012, which covered a total area of 8,427.22 hectares.


In total, 20 micro-water sheds under Kuhuboto and Niuland Blocks of Dimapur District benefitted from this project. The programme concluded with vote of thanks delivered by Achetla Jamir, Watershed Development team member, Dimapur.
