Kohima, August 1 (MExN): The Department of Social Welfare, Government of Nagaland has issued a press communiqué regarding the on-going state-level Special Enrolment Drive for Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY). It stated that PMMVY enrolment drive is being carried out across all 17 districts of Nagaland.
The Department stated that Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana is a centrally-sponsored maternity benefit scheme under Mission Shakti which provides monetary benefit of Rs 5,000 for Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers (PW&LM) for their first live birth and Rs 6,000 for the second child, provided the second child is a girl.
The benefits are provided through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and can be availed up to nine months after child birth. The eligible candidates can visit the nearest Anganwadi Centre/CDPO/DPO office or the District Hub for Empowerment of Women.
