Kohima, December 16 (MExN): The Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland has officially changed the name of the Para Medical Training Institute (PMTI), Kohima to the ‘Nagaland Institute of Allied & Healthcare, Kohima.’
The renaming follows the state government’s administrative approval dated November 11, 2025, and directives from the Centre under the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Profession (NCAHP) Act, 2021, regarding the discontinuation of the term ‘paramedical’.
According to a department order issued through the state IPR, the institute shall henceforth be known and referred to only by its new name in all official records, deeds, proceedings and transactions, both private and public.
The use of the term ‘paramedical’ is now strictly prohibited in all forms of usage, be it verbal, written, or electronic. All departments and stakeholders have been directed to immediately update all existing references to the old name in records and correspondence to reflect the change.
