Dimapur, December 19 (MExN): The Department of Power informs all consumers and public in general concerning load shedding being imposed throughout the State. The department in a press release issued by the Chief Engineer informed that with the onset of lean/dry season, availability of power in the State has drastically reduced due to which the department is unable to maintain stable power supply. The department said that against the requirement of 110MW, only 55MW is available from all sources which is about 50% of total requirement; adding that it is mainly because of the fact that all the generating stations in the North East are mostly hydro, which is rain dependent. The department has appealed to all the consumers to bear with the inconvenience, while requesting the consumers to minimize power consumption by switching off heating and other appliances top the extent possible especially during peak hours (5pm to 10pm).
