POWERGRID posts profit after tax of Rs 16,824 cr

Gurugram, May 22 (MExN): The Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has posted a consolidated profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 16,824 crore for Financial Year 2022, registering a year-over-year (YoY) growth of 40%, an official release informed. 

The ‘Maharatna’ Company under Ministry of Power, Government of India also registered a total income of Rs 42,698 crore in FY 2022, indicating YoY of 5%, it said. 

For quarter 4 of FY22, the company announced a PAT of Rs 4,156 crore on a consolidated basis, which is 18% increase over Q4FY21, it informed. 

The total income for Q4FY22 was Rs 11,068 crore compared to Rs 10,816 crore in the Q4 of the previous year, it added 
Accordingly, the company has proposed a final dividend of 22.5% (Rs 2.25 per share on a face value of Rs 10 each) in addition to first & second interim and special dividends aggregating to 125% (Rs 12.5 per share on a face value of Rs 10 each) already paid for the FY22, the release maintained. 

The total dividend for the year amounts to Rs 4.75 per share compared to Rs 9.75 per share (adjusted for Bonus Share) for the previous year, it said. 

Meanwhile, the release from POWERGRID Corporate Communications further informed that it completed the first asset monetisation by a CPSE through the Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT) route. PGInvIT, sponsored by the company, got listed on BSE & NSE on May 14, 2021 and total monetization of Rs 8370 crore was  done by the company during FY22, it added. 

The company also incurred a capital expenditure of Rs 9,060 crore and capitalized assets worth Rs 20,695 crore (excluding FERV) on consolidated basis during the financial year. 

The company’s Gross Fixed Assets on a consolidated basis stood at Rs 2,62,726 crore as on March 31, 2022 as against Rs 2,41,498 crore as on March 31, 2021.

As per the release, in FY22, the company along with its subsidiaries added 43,500 MVA transformation capacity, 7 sub-stations and 5,450 ckm transmission lines while Indian portion of additional cross border links with neighbouring countries (Bhutan and Bangladesh) have been completed. 

To strengthen the grid, 7200 MW of Inter Regional (IR) capacity has been added during the year, IR capacity of the National Grid stands at 1,12,250 MW at the end of FY22, it added. The company maintained average transmission system availability of 99.83% during FY22 compared to 99.76% in the corresponding period of last year and as of March 31, 2022,  the total transmission assets of POWERGRID and its subsidiaries stood at 1,72,437 ckm of transmission lines, 265 sub-stations and 4,74,457 MVA of transformation capacity.
