Combing the need for providing online medical and healthcare services along with other services such as apparels, automotive, electronics and construction materials and manpower for the people of Nagaland, a mobile app dubbed, Pragtisheel (progressive) was officially launched at the Pragtisheel Progressive Skill Development Institute, Dimapur by special guest, Mmhonlümo Kikon, Advisor, IT, Science & Technology, New and Renewable Energy on June 15.
The app, ‘Pragtisheel’ was first conceived by Chumbemo M Patton, chief co-ordinator of Pragtisheel Progressive Skill Development Institute, Dimapur which is his second venture. “I wanted to keep that name because I believe in bringing progress to the lives of the people of Nagaland,” he said.
Through his past experiences as a social activist working in Delhi for over a decade and a half, Patton expressed his desire “to make life a little easier for the people as we are yet to have that level of engagement similar to what people in other parts of the world and in different cities experience.” Therefore, he revealed that the app is a “one-stop solution,” that provides basic amenities and services through the comfort of one’s home.
The app has a total of six services available within its platform which includes apparels, automotive, electronics, construction, workers and medical services.
Patton revealed that as there were only two professional app developers in Nagaland, both based in Kohima, he had to take the help of professional in Delhi to help build the app.
As of now, the app caters to customers living in Dimapur however Patton noted that his intention is to upgrade it for Kohima, Wokha and Mokokchung as well.
Mmhonlümo Kikon, speaking on the occasion said that the app is a bold initiative which will help cater to a lot of individuals in Dimapur. “This may not be the first app in Nagaland, but this will be the first app that will cater to businesses established in Dimapur,” he said.
Kikon in particular, expressed his optimism that the construction services that the app provides will be a game-changer which has the potential to generate employment opportunities for the youths as well. He added that utilising technology can help grow a community together.
He further encouraged other entrepreneurs to find innovative and efficient ways through which they can serve the people while also boosting economic growth of the state.
Sachin Jaiswal, IAS, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dimapur noted how the services provided in the app is much needed in Nagaland where basic amenities are hard to find especially in remote places and even in urban areas such as Dimapur. He mentioned how it is important to cultivate customer feedback as well, as it will in-still confidence among the users of the app.
